College Football Week 4

College Football is upon us once again, and it all starts with a very intriguing matchup between Texas A&M and Miami. Texas A&M is 3-0 and ranked #20, but they are underdogs by a Field Goal. However, they have beaten absolutely zero notable teams, so the ranking may only be just that, a ranking. Miami on the other hand, is 2-1, with a blowout loss to Oklahoma. The game is in the Orange Bowl, and it should be a make it or break it game for the Canes. I'd go with the Canes since the odds are so good (+125 currently), but it should definitely be a close.

Another intriguing game this week is Clemson against Virginia. Virginia has lost to two relatively tough teams, but they are supposed to be pretty bad. Clemson has looked good, and are only 7.5 pt. favorites. Go with the Orange on this one.

The big game of the week is the yearly matchup between Florida and Tennessee. Florida has pretty much dominated this series for the most part, and I see no reason why this won't continue. Tennessee struggled with the speed of Cal, and I definitely think Florida is just as fast or faster than Cal. Give the points and take UF (currently -8).

Another game, which was supposed to be big, is Michigan versus Notre Dame. Both teams are "defeated," meaning neither of them have managed to put a check mark in the win column. Obviously, someone will get the Win this week, and I expect that to be Michigan, mainly b/c it is at home. Michigan has looked horrible, but not as bad as Notre Dame.

NFL Week 1 Wrapup

The NFL began with the Colts showing everyone why they are the best team in football, and ended with the Cardinals showing everyone why they are one of the worst. However, if you had bet on Arizona, you would still have won, although you would have wondered why you ever would have done so after the first play of the game when Leinart threw an interception at this own 20.

Week 2 Recap for College Football

The biggest game of the week was definitely LSU (#2) versus Va. Tech (#9), and it should have been the game you bet the most money on. Of course, I am saying this after the fact here on the site, but I definitely let some others know that Va. Tech was nothing more than another overrated ACC team. Both LSU and Va. Tech showed their true colors the week earlier with LSU blowing out Mississippi State and Va. Tech barely beating East Carolina. The spread closed at LSU -13, but anything less than 17 should have been an easy winner for you. Expect more big things from LSU you this year.

College Football Opening Weekend Recap

College football fans were left in complete shock this weekend as Michigan, who was ranked #5 in the preseason polls, became the first ranked team to lose to a Division 1-AA school. Actually, they are no longer called Division 1-AA for some reason. Appalachian State University is located in Boone, NC, and unless you know someone that went there or used to go on vacations up there like myself, you probably have never heard of it...that is until you heard the thud as Michigan's last Field Goal attempt was blocked, thus securing ASU's victory. Either way, this was one of those games that will go down in the history books as one of the largest upsets ever...to bad there wasn't a betting line on it. To cap it all off, take a look at the following Appalachian State University recruiting video...it'll make you feel Hot, Hot, Hot!

College Football Starts

The world of college football has begun, and although there were no upsets last night, a few teams did make some strong statements. LSU (#2) absolutely destroyed their SEC counterpart with a 45-0 blowout at Mississippi State, and Louisville (#10) obliterated Murray St. 73-10 at home.

This weekend isn't loaded with great games, but does have a very good matchup between Cal and Tennessee. Last year Tennessee destroyed Cal in the opener at Tennessee, but this year the game is at Cal, so expect it to be close with a Cal victory at the end of the day, mainly due to Nate Longshore.

The only other games that seem of interest are Wake Forest and Boston College. Wake is coming off their best season in who knows how long having won the ACC and played in a BCS bowl, yet the Eagles are currently favored by 6 at home. I'd go with Boston College on this one.
