Howdy All,
The problem with second base in fantasy is that its not very deep. In real life the 2B is used mostly for defense. Teams want quick fielders who can move and field and usually provide Bad Hip? I don't think so!Bad Hip? I don't think so!little power. That is what you are going to find here. After pretty much the top 3, you are going to have to figure out what you team needs. I usually try to find my speed guys in the MI spot. You want a good hitter who will hit for average and provide some steals to balance out power hitters you selected at first. You can find guys like Uggla here that just hit bombs, but its far and few between. Its not a pretty position and the table falls off fast. If you don't get one of the elite, then your best bet is too just wait and fill up your other positions first. Don't panic, because you can always find rookies, or surprises in the middle of the season at the two spot.

Thursday Free NBA Picks - 3-19-09

Welcome back to your hot spot for all the picks you'll need over the next few days...whotobet.net!!  We have FREE NBA picks, Fantasy Baseball advice, and a list of all the NCAA games where you can make your voice heard!  I'll be heading off to Las Vegas tomorrow, so I'm primed for some action.  I'll be building up my bank roll on NBA games, and then doubling down on some March Madness.  Don't shy away now.  On to the matchups...

Dallas Mavericks (41-27) vs. Atlanta Hawks (40-28)
40-28.  To see it in print is actually impressive.  Atlanta has put together quite the season.  Add to that a 19-13 record ATS at home, and I'm sold.  Oh, and FYI, down with the Mavs this year.  They have done nothing but crush me when I vote for them.
Pick: Atlanta -6

Smell of black pine tar, fresh blades of grass, grape bubbles of Big League chew. The crack of the bat, the pop of the mitt, the rustle of dirt. What's that you say? Is it true? Yes it is. We have finally arrived at another glorious season of fantasy baseball. The offseason as always was long and drawn out.Whotobet.netWhotobet.net We again had major stories of steroids. Unlike previous years it wasn't villains like Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens. It was Baseball's King that fell on the sword this year. We might as well face it, probably everyone of our stars took something that gave them an advantage. Will it all come out? Probably not. We just have to accept it and move on. Do we here at whotobet.net care if Arod took roids? Hell no. We just want stats, stats, and more stats.

Thursday Free NBA Picks - 3-12-09

Welcome back to another episode of Thursday night free NBA picks here at whotobet.net!  Four great teams are scheduled to battle...well, three great teams and one that is still hanging on for dear life in the West.  Hold onto your hats.  On to the matchups...

Los Angeles Lakers (51-13) vs. San Antonio Spurs (43-20)
LA had a nice come back victory over Houston on Wednesday night, and it took 37 from Kobe to get there.  San Antonio has been three for their last three (all at home), and should be ready to host this matchup.  I made the mistake of picking Dallas last week after success going against Mr. Cuban's boys much of this year.  Well, I've been riding the Spurs all year long with success...so I won't be breaking that trend this week.  Don't bet against Mr. Duncan!!!
Pick: San Antonio

2009 Final Four teams?

2009 Final Four?2009 Final Four?As we head into selection Sunday, I thought it would be a good time to take a look at the top 4 teams in the country and see how they've done, and let you know what my thoughts are on each.  The top 4 currently in the polls are UNC, Pittsburgh, Memphis and UCONN.  Two Big East schools making the top 4 surprises me, but then again if the Big 12 can supposedly have 3 of the top 5 in Football, then I guess it makes sense.  Oh wait, didn't the Big 12 struggle during the Bowl season?  That's right, they did, and most likely will the Big East big boys.  Right Lewass?  Anyways, let's get down to the nuts and bolts.

Thursday Free NBA Picks - 3-5-09

Welcome back to whotobet.net, where all good things find their start!!  This week will be a quick write-up, so don't blink or you might miss the picks.  On to the matchups...

Dallas Mavericks (37-24) vs. New Orleans Hornets (37-22)
Dallas won a tough game Wednesday at home against in-state rival San Antonio.  The Hornets are on a 5 game winning streak, have had the last two days off, and have a 21-9 record at home.  Hmmm...common money is probably on New Orleans.  But since NO has a terrible record ATS, I'll take Dallas.
Pick: Dallas

Portland Trail Blazers (37-22) vs. Denver Nuggets (39-22)
Denver is 17-11-1 ATS at home, while Portland is 12-18 ATS on the road.  Done.
Pick: Denver

North Carolina vs Virginia Tech ACC Basketball Pick

Air HokieAir HokieTonight we have only one matchup for you, but it should be an intriguing one.  Both of these teams are playing for something tonight, albeit on opposite ends of the spectrum.  UNC is looking to secure not only a share of the ACC Title, but are also looking to secure a #1 seed in the tournament.  Virginia Tech on the other hand is fighting for its life to make the tournament, and a huge win at home against the #2 team in the country could go a long way in convincing the selection committee.  However, we don't care about who wins or loses, we just want them to cover the spread, and a mighty big spread it is at +9.

Big Monday Picks (Villanova vs Notre Dame & Texas vs. Baylor)

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

Big Monday continues tonight, and although you will be without the much heralded picks of Mr. Lewass due to his crazy travel schedule, at least you'll get my picks.  Tonight we've got two half way decent matchups, although I would expect a little more at this time of the season.  Two of the teams are ranked in the top 25 (Texas and Villanova), but unfortunately they are playing against each other.  The intriguing thing is that Villanova is actually a 3 point dog tonight against the Irish.  So, who do we think is going to win?
