10/31/09 Football Picks

Most of you who decided to take the favorites last week in the NFL should have faired quite well. We went 4-1 with our College and NFL picks, and hopefully you had a similar outting. Here are our picks for this weekend's slate of games.

Texas -9.5 over Oklahoma State (Texas is scoring 41 ppg, so as long the defense can show up, this should be an easy cover)
Houston -6.5 over Southern Miss (Houston has been good, but this will be a test)
Cal -6.5 over Arizona State (Cal has been pathetic on the road the last few years, but that is history, and Cal covers)
NY Giants -1 over Philadelphia Eagles (This line started at +3 for NYG, so the big boys are betting hard on the Giants also)
St. Louis Rams and Detroit Lions under 44 (2 pathetic offenses equals a low scoring game)

10/24/09 Weekend Parlay Picks

Here we go again with another round of parlay picks for this weekend's games:

Texas -12.5 over Missouri (I've heard both sides of this bet, but UT should be good)
New Orlean Saints -6.5 over the Dolphins (my buddy likes this one, but I'm skeptical)
Philly and Washington over 37 (look for a high scoring game...not sure why the over/under is so low)
Indianapolis Colts -13 over St. Louis (Good team pounds bad team, that is all you need to know)
Bears +1.5 over Bengals (Basically a pick game, so you be the judge)

We've got a doozy for you this weekend. We went 4-1 last weekend, and I wouldn't expect anything less.

Texas -3 over OU (Bradford may be back, but McCoy never left)
Va. Tech -3 over Ga. Tech (Va. Tech is playing out its mind so far this season, and people thing Ga. Tech is good b/c they beat FSU)
USC -10 over ND (Would've liked to peg this one at 9.5, but we'll take the chance at 10)
Detroit/Green Bay over 47.5 (Both teams can score a lot if given the right circumstances)
Philly -14 over Oakland (Oakland = Jamarcus Russell = bad)

So, I've decided that given the amount of free time left in my days, I will keep our posts to a minimum and let you know what 5 team parlay my friends and I are playing each week. this will give you instant access to picks that we think are good bets. So, without further ado, here you go.

49ers -2.5 over Atlanta (iffy, but usually iffy pays off for some reason)
Alabama -5 over Ole Miss (Ole Miss burned me earlier in the season, but they won't do it again)
Indianapolis -4 over Tennessee (Could be a sucker bet as this one looks too easy)
Colorado +32.5 over Texas (Hopefully Colt McCoy parties hard the night before)
Minnesota Vikings -10 over St. Louis ( Minnesota = good, St. Louis = bad)

Thursday night games always give me the shakes when trying to pick it. It's either a game no one really cares about, or a game where a up and coming school is trying to compete with a big boy on the national stage. Either way, we as the bettors of the world, have to try and decipher what some 18-22 year old is going to feel like playing under the lights after perhaps a rough day at school. At least with Saturday games, we know they only have one thing on their mind. Anyways, this is a game that no one outside of WVU or Colorado cares about, but on to the pick anyways, as we need to make up some dinero!

Week 4 College Football Picks

Really? We are already in to week 4? Geez, time is flying by, and there have already been 4 or 5 top 5 teams go down to inferior opponents, the most recent being an ugly game last night between South Carolina and Ole Miss. So, what do we have on the plate for us to feast on tomorrow? Well, we've got a great matchup b/t Va. Tech and Miami, but I am not going to try and be the hero and predict the outcome of that one. However, the following games should peek your interest as possible winners.

Ole Miss vs South Carolina Pick (9/24/09)

Ole MissEveryone is talking about the SEC, and for good reason. With 4 teams ranked in the top 7, there is much to be excited about for SEC fans. Thursday's game just so happens to have one of these teams playing as Ole Miss is ranked #4 in the country. However, they are going against the old ball coach, who despite his success at Florida, hasn't really been able to do the same thing at South Carolina. So, who should we pick in a game where anything can happen?
