Week 4 College Football Picks

Football Experts?Football Experts? Can you believe we are already 4 weeks into the college football season?  USC pretty much showed the nation last week that they are the team to beat, and West Virginia has proven they are most overrated team since Notre Dame of a couple years ago.  Basically, what I am saying is that the experts and pre-season rankings mean nothing, which is why you should be betting early and often to take advantage.  In case you are wondering what in the world this picture has to do with football experts, well, it was the 2nd image when searching google for "football experts."  I love google.

Notre Dame +9 at Michigan State -9

Notre Dame went 3-9 last year and look to match their season total in wins in only their 3rd game this year.  That's right folks, the Irish are 2-0.  They are coming off a nice 35-17 blowout of Michigan, avenging their 38-0 loss last year. Big Charlie lost a knee in the process, but who cares, he doesn't play on the field anyways.  The problem for ND is that they are going to have to play at Spartan Stadium, their first game on the road this year, so their nerves will be high.  Michigan State, who lost their opener to Cal, has been playing well as of recent allowing only 10 points in the last two games, although their last game was against Florida Atlantic and was played in a monsoon.  Their running game was stellar last weekend, and will be good again this week.  They are more talented than ND, but I like the points in this one.  I'm expecting ND to come in with some confidence, and if they can avoid the early jitters and potential Turnovers, they should be fine.

Wake Forest +5 at Florida State -5

Bobby Bowden?Bobby Bowden?

That's right folks, the image to the right is the 7th image returned by google for "bobby bowden."  We don't have any problems with google returning bad results, especially when they look so good.  Anyways, the Noles are 2-0 having filled their bellies with some cream puffs to start the season.  Wake Forest is also 2-0, having actually been someone from a major conference.

So, what do we expect on Saturday?  The last time WFU came to Tallahassee they blew out the Noles 30-0, and pretty much solidified the Noles as just an average ACC team.  To put more proof in the pudding, FSU is only 7-9 in the ACC recently.

Bobby has decided that he has had enough with Weatherford, perhaps b/c of the record mentioned earlier, but given the experience, it is hard to think Ponder is the man, but we'll have to wait to see how it pans out.  FSU is going to be having revenge on their mind, having lost 2 years in a row to Wake.  No one should lose 2 years in a row to Wake, much less 3.  The game is at home for the Noles, and their most lethal threat in Preston Parker will be back on the field.  Go with the Noles in this one, and let's hope I didn't just jinx Mr. Lewass.

Florida -8 at Tennessee +8

As much as I hate the Gators, I do love to bet on them.  After watching what they did to Miami in the final quarter, I get the feeling that Urban Meyer has the same philosophy as Steve Spurrier back in the day...don't just win, make sure you cover the spread also.  Urban continues to attack even when the game is won, and when you have athletes like the Gators, they are going to score. Tennessee started the season with a surprise loss to the new and improve Neuheisel UCLA Bruins, and given that the Gators make UCLA look like a high school team, the Volunteers are going to struggle.  The Gators did show some signs of vulnerability against the Hurricanes as the Canes were able to pretty much shut them down for the first 3 quarters.  The only problem for the Canes is that they didn't have an offense to go with their defense, and eventually the dam broke.  Tennessee doesn't have this type of defense, and Fulmer is going to be seeing more blurs of blue running down the field then he wants.  Give up the points and go with the Gators.

San Jose State +8 at Stanford -8

San Jose State continues to not disappoint when betting on them.  So far they are 2-0 ATS this year, whereas Stanford is only 1-2 ATS.  Stanford started off with a nice win against Oregon State, but have been absolutely man handled as of late.  The good news for Spartan fans is that although this is officially an away game, it is only a 20 minute drive from San Jose to Palo Alto, so they will have plenty of fan support.  SJSU's QB Kyle Reed was the WAC player of the week last week, and should be able to slice and dice the Cardinal defense, much like TCU did last weekend.  Take a ride on the under appreciated Spartans, and also you might be able to find a point or two more for the Spartans depending on your sportsbook.

Weatherford.

Unless Drew was caught sleeping with Mrs. Bowden, I have NO idea why he wasn't put into the game on that final drive...at a minimum.

I can't believe Wake has beaten FSU 3 times in a row.

GO PITISH!
L.A.

If Jimbo Fisher plans on taking over for Bobby Bowden, he better start proving his worth. Right now, all he has proven is that he can shuffle quarterbacks faster than a blackjack dealer.
