Thursday Night Free NBA Picks - 5-8-08 Playoffs

Welcome to your 1-2 punch for sports bet selections.  Baseball is in full swing after a month plus.  But it's the NBA playoffs that are the hot topic this time of year.  Speaking of 1-2...it's looking very likely that the top dogs will represent in the division conference finals.  I like the other seeds, don't get me wrong.  But it's an up hill battle.  And the thought of an 80's Finals with Boston and LA has TV execs giddy.  So why fight the feeling.  Jump in the time machine, and enjoy the nostalgia.  On to the matchups...

Cleveland @ Boston (Celtics lead 1-0)
D-fence!  **clap clap**  D-fence!  **clap clap**  Ugh.  What a slow paced game we had to start this series.  76-72 doesn't exactly light up a fan's eyes.  But hey, the Celtics are showing that they at least learned from their Round One mistakes.  LeBron struggled, but I hate to bet against him in back-to-back outings.  Not when Doc is involved in the game plan.  The home court advantage is strong...but the spread is a little high for me.
Pick: Cleveland +9

New Orleans @ San Antonio (Hornets lead 2-0)
Wow.  The Spurs are on the ropes...and either they show some of that playoff experience and grind out a home victory, or they are OUT.  But who wins isn't of interest to me.  It's the spread.  Man, a lot of love is getting put on the Spurs.  And while I get the logic, I also look to the whoopin' that the Hornets put on SA while at home.  It's not like NO is a bad road team.  I think Vegas money is riding the "experience" card a bit too hard.  Go with the youth and legs of NO.  This series might be over before it starts.
Pick: New Orleans +7

Remember during the season when Thursday night dogs were king??  Let's ride them again in the playoffs!!  See you on the court!!
