Welcome back to some home cooked free NBA picks. This week's recipe will include limited ingredients: San Antonio vs. Orlando and Phoenix vs. Portland. But don't worry, as all great dishes are the simplest to make. So before I start eating my computer with all this food talk, let's serve the main course and dig in. On to the matchups...
San Antonio (15-9) at Orlando (19-6)
A tough loss is hot off the presses for San Antonio. Leading by 7 to start the 4th quarter, the Spurs end up falling short on the road in New Orleans. Now they jump a few states to face the Magic. Orlando is coming off a 4-1 road trip and two days of rest, which is a good thing since Dwight Howard has missed the past two games with an injured knee. While other Magicians have stepped up in his place, they start a tough four game home stretch this Thursday (SA, LAL, GS, NO), and they'll need their Superman to have a chance. The spread isn't out yet, but it should be close. I predict Orlando to be favored by about 3, and against my better judgement (again), I'm picking opposite Mr. Duncan this week.
Pick: Orlando (if favored by 3 or less)
Phoenix (15-10) at Portland (16-10)
Interesting situation. Ex-Trailblazer Terry Porter comes back to Portland, but this time around as the Suns coach. A lot of emotion on both sides for this one. The Suns should come out strong to help their coach look good. Portland should come out strong to avenge their earlier results against the Suns, a 107-96 and a 102-92 loss, both in Phoenix. Home court advantage will be the difference, so I'm riding the blazing trails of Portland on Thursday.
Pick: Portland -5
So there you have it. One part Orlando. One part Portland. Mix well, heat, and serve for victory. Until next time...
He single handily won the game for Portland last night. Also, it helped that Nash missed a layup at the end to seal the deal and let Portland cover. Nice job chadman... 2 for 2.
