Ole Miss vs South Carolina Pick (9/24/09)

Ole MissOle MissEveryone is talking about the SEC, and for good reason.  With 4 teams ranked in the top 7, there is much to be excited about for SEC fans.  Thursday's game just so happens to have one of these teams playing as Ole Miss is ranked #4 in the country.  However, they are going against the old ball coach, who despite his success at Florida, hasn't really been able to do the same thing at South Carolina.  So, who should we pick in a game where anything can happen?

South Carolina had an ugly win in their opener over NC State, and then had a heartbreaking loss to Georgia in their second outting.  The good news is that these games give us something to go when trying to predict how they will play on Thursday night.  Ole Miss on the other hand has played a cup cake schedule thus far, so we aren't really sure what they are all about.

What we do know about Ole Miss is that they have been battling the flu, so this may be a factor, but I seriously doubt it.  This is basically their season opener and time to prove to everyone that their ranking is somewhat validated.  However, I am stating now they won't end up there at the end of the year.  Ole Miss has a ton of returning starters from a team that won their last 6 games last year, including a blowout win over LSU and a shootout in the Cotton Bowl over Texas Tech.  They have proven they can score and move the ball up and down the field, and despite the fact that the Gamecocks proved they could score against Georgia, I don't think they will keep up with the Rebels.  The line is at -3, and I like this one a lot.  Go Rebels!
