North Carolina State versus Cincinnati Pick

The ACC could not have had a worse weekend then last weekend.  Any hopes of them showing the nation that they weren't the weak conference that everyone thinks they are was thrown out the window iwith losses by Miami, FSU, Ga. Tech, and most surprisingly Va. Tech to a FCS school by the name of James Madison.  However, lost in all that was a decent win by NC State over UCF despite being 3 point underdogs.  So, what do we do this week.  Do we go with the assumption that the ACC sucks overall and that NC State got a fluke win, or do we go with the idea that maybe NC State is a bit better than the odds makers think, and thus are ripe for the picking? Cincinnati  at North Carolina State -2When picking Thursday night games that have a close point spread, my tendency is to go with the home team.  There is something about college students on a Thursday night prime time game that gets the stadium rocking, and their team playing better than expected.  Just ask an FSU fan, like myself, about how NC State plays on Thursday nights at home, and you'll hear that they cover, if not win, the majority of the time.  Cincinnati comes into this game at 1-1 SU, and 0-1 ATS, mainly because there wasn't a line for their last game against Indiana State.  In their Season opener, they were beat by Fresno State by 2 TDs, so obviously with the departure of Brian Kelly, and numerous key Offensive starters, things have changed.  The good news is that their QB Collaros is completing  60%+ of his passes, but I don't think he'll be able to do that against a fairly stout NC State defense this week.  Look for the Wolfpack to win this one and cover.
