NC State vs. South Carolina and Oregon vs. Boise State Picks

It's been a long time coming, but we are finally back in those few precious months where College Football rules our world, and we love every minute of it.  Thomas, aka pittpanther, has gotten off to a nice start with his top 10 predictions for the entire 2009 season, and although I don't agree with a lot of them, I am going to be hard pressed to be able to defend my positions as well as he can.

Anyways, we start off with a classic ACC versus SEC matchup in the first game with NC State trying to make amends for last year's 34-0 drubbing at the hands of the Old ball coach and South Carolina in the opening game last year.  And then we have the much anticipated Oregon versus Boise State matchup on the blue turf.  So, let's get down to our picks.

NC State struggled at the beginning of last year but turned it on late to make a nice little run become bowl eligible.  South Carolina, despite it's drubbing of NC State, struggled after the opener, and finished 7-5 overall, and promptly got man handled by Iowa in their bowl game.  What we have here are some hungry kids from NC State looking to make amends for last year's loss.  The got it together at the end of last season, and with a lot of returning starters, they are anxious to return the favor.  Look for NC State to cover the 5 points in this one.

SEC versus WAC...and we care?  Somehow the boys from the blue turf have made college football fans notice their skills rather than the field they play on.  Oregon is probably going to finish third this year in the Pac 10 behind USC and Cal, and Boise State is going to win the WAC.  This games means a lot more to Boise State than it does to Oregon, but for some reason I like the Ducks in this one.  The Ducks have improved each of the last 3 seasons, and capped off last year's 10-3 record with an impressive win over the much hyped Big 12 foe of Oklahoma State.  However, one of those losses came at the hands of Boise State (32-37), so the blue boys...yes, that my new nickname for them...are no slouches.  Again though, I like the revenge factor, and will..."gasp"...pick a Pac 10 team to cover the spread.  Go Ducks!
