Who really picked Bush? Was it the Chicken? Who picks better - LA or the Chicken?I keep waiting for my break out week…and keep struggling to 4-3 pick weeks. I was feeling a little frustrated so I did a quick comparison on pick performance versus the fine folks at collegefootballnews.com. Each week, their panel of 4 experts and “Clucko the Chicken” (what equates to a random coin flip) make their picks ATS versus every single game on the docket.
For an example, check out this week’s picks at cfn.scout.com/2/798415.html. And they do this for a living? *sigh* Anyway, let’s get to it. Are you wasting your time reading this article? Well, their highest rated expert is currently picking at a 54.6% hit rate and their lowest is posting at 47.4%. By the way, that highest rated “analyst” is Clucko. Yes, a random coin flip. Their highest rated human picker is a close second at 54.2%. With my 4-3 finish last week, I currently sport a 23-19-1 record…or 53.5%. Translation: Save yourself the time and go flip a coin. Or, press on, and do better than 50% of the panel experts on THE authority in college football. I guess it all depend on how you look at things.
As you apparently insist on reading, here is my midweek pick of the week (4-3 this year): UAB @ Houston (-18.0). And before you ask…no, I am not picking the Clemson @ Wake Forest or Louisville @ Memphis games as Clemson and Louisville are both doing their best impressions of Dr. Jekyll and Hyde this year. I’m steering clear of them until I feel like I have better reads on them.
Meanwhile, I have some very clear stats screaming for a Texas size ass whooping coming this Thursday night:
-
Houston’s QB Case Keenum leads the Cougars #2 rated aerial attack in the country with 400.4 yards passing per game. Only Texas Tech is better.
-
UAB’s passing defense? Ummmm, not so good. The Blazers are rated 116th in pass efficiency defense.
-
Houston drummed UAB, in Birmingham, 49-10 last year.
-
The home team is 4-2 in this series and won each game by 13 or more points.
-
Houston is coming in off a bye week…following a stirring 41-24 victory over East Carolina.
Houston’s offensive and defensive lines will push UAB up and down the field and the Cougars win in a runaway, 42-17.
