Howdy All,
So we have finally made it to the first week of the NFL playoffs. We have thread through 17 weeks of the wild and crazy NFL season, and we are faced with only a few more games left to pick. In some ways its sad, because the season is drawing to an end soon, but in other ways its exciting because this is it. This is our chance to make up money or make more money if we are ahead. It is time to put up or shut up and make our picks count. It's all about the Playoffs baby and here we go!!
Washington at Seattle (-3)
The Skins are coming off one of the most emotional seasons in a long time. They went from being all about out of the playoffs, to losing their star on defense to murder. They have played with their heart to win their last 4 games to make it to the big show. Now the question is how long can playing on emotion last? Todd Collins is the starter for Washington and he has played briallantly to get into the playoffs. The Seahawks have quitely gone through their NFL season with win after win, on a cream puff schedule. No one is giving them that much credit because they really haven't beaten anyone good this year. They had only 1 win against a team with a winning record this year. However, the hawks haven't lost a first round playoff game in 3 years. Yes the Romo bobbled probably helped that cause, but we have to admit playing against the 12th man(sorry Aggie fans they bought the rights from you) at Qwest field is tough to do. I think the crowd plays a huge factor against Mr. Collins and the emotion runs dry this week. I will take the Hawks at give up the three.
Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) at Pittsburgh
The Jaguars walk into the playoffs on fire this week. They are the "IT" of the NFL right now. Everyone wants to jump on their bandwagon, because everyone loves how they have dominated week in and week out with the double rushing attack of Taylor and MJD. The even dominated the Steerlers a few weeks ago, in a game where the score looks closer than the game was. The Steerlers are banged up like a demolition derby this week. They lost their star Parker a few weeks ago to a broken leg, and defensive end Aaron Smith is doubtful. I think I will be jumping on the bandwagon this week and taking the Jags too giving up the three on the road.
Tennessee (+10) at San Diego
Norv Turner!! Thats the two words I have for you. A guy who can't win a playoff game to save his life. The Chargers are on a roll and have won 6 straight, but Titans have also won 3 to just get into the playoffs. It is still up in the air as to who is going to start for the Titans. Vince is listed as Questionable but is getting better each day. Rivers has been as wild as Britney Spears last night. It seems that who looks great one week, and falls apart the next week. I trust that he pulls out the win against a Titans team with 2 Questions at QB, but 10 points is a little steep for me to let Norv try and cover.
New York Giants (+3) at Tampa Bay
Here we go again, Eli Manning in the playoffs equals are gold mine for gamblers. I am hoping we see a lot of the Manning face this week, because I love it. It brings such a huge grin to my face. The Bucs looked to have mailed in the last two weeks of the seaon because they were already locked into their position. Grueden probably has been planning for the Giants for awhile, and will look to bring the heat to the Giants. Can the Bucs players rally after being off for 2 plus weeks. I think they can, and it will be great to say ARRRRHHHHGGG all day long when I have booty on the Pirates!!
