Can you believe that both Peavy and Johan Santana had losing efforts last night? It's hard enough picking winners, much less having to know when the two top pitchers in the league the last couple of years are going to stink up the field on the same night. Anyways, tonight we have a very peculiar matchup that I have yet to figure out as to why one team is favored over the other. Onto the matchup.
| Detroit Tigers +114 at Baltimore Orioles -124 |
The Tigers took 5 straight at the end of last year from the Orioles, and then another one yesterday. Basically, they are on a roll against the orange birds. They will be putting Armando Galarraga on the mound, who is 7-3 with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.2 WHIP. The only downside to this is his below average BABIP at .243, which is expected to rise eventually, although I don't think it will be tonight.
Jeremy Guthrie (5-7, 3.49 ERA) will be in the mound for the Orioles. His ERA is impressive and his 1.19 WHIP is also good. His BABIP is a little more in line at .266, but it should rise also.
Carlos Guillein should be back in the lineup tonight, and with Cabrera + Guillein and a hot Marcus Thames in the lineup, I'll be putting my money on the Tigers. Good luck!
