Today we have a very intriguing matchup between a young, soon to be phenom in Joba Chamberlain, and an established ace on the mound in Roy Halladay.  Joba garnered a lot of attention earlier this year when the Yankee starters were struggling, and slowly but surely went from a relief role, to a limited pitch count starter, to a full fledged starter.  This entire year has been excellent with a 2.45 ERA.  His WHIP isn't stellar at 1.35, but he seems to be getting the job done.  But what about Halladay?

New York Yankees +102 at Toronto Blue Jays -112

Halladay had a rough start to the year going 3-5, but since then has only lost once and run his record up to 10-6.  His ERA is slightly higher than Joba at 2.88, but his WHIP is excellent at 1.08.  Basically, this should be a pitchers duel all night, and I don't think the young Joba or Halladay is going to blow up so to speak.  At this point, I tend to look at which team is better, and then what the odds are.  The Yanks are currently 4 games up on the Jays in the AL East, and given that they are the underdogs, it seems like a good pick to me.  Any time you can get even money with a better team that is putting out a pitcher a 2.45 ERA, you have to take it.  Go Yankees.
