Hanley RamirezHanley RamirezThe Marlins have won 4 in a row coming into tonight's matchup against the Washington Nationals.  The only bad news is that they are starting Ricky Nolasco, who has been getting shelled thus far this year.  The poor guy is sporting a 6.10 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP.  Sure, we'd like to blame it on bad luck, perhaps a high BABIP, but his BABIP is just under .300 at .293.  Therefore, he has basically sucked.  However, these are the Nationals, who he was 3-1 against last year, and who the Marlins have already 5-1 against this year, including being 3-0 at Washington.  Also, the Marlins have the #1 player in baseball right now in Hanley Ramirez.  The kid is a pure stud, and is a huge part of the Marlins 20-14 record, good enough for 1st place in the NL East.  But, who to bet?

Florida Marlins +125 at Washington Nationals

As you can see, the  Marlins
are +125, which I consider pretty good odds given the fact they have
beaten the Nats 5 times already this year.  The Nationals will put Tim
Redding (4-2, 3.20 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) on the mound tonight.  Looking at
the basic pitching stats, this guy seems like a very good pitcher.
However, the BABIP doesn't lie, and his BABIP is .237, almost 70 points
lower than the MLB average.  He is basically getting lucky when people
are getting contact.  The good news for him is that he is striking out
6+ per 9IP, but still, that BABIP is way too low to justify the odds in
this one.  Take the Marlins, ride their hot streak, and hope that
Redding's luck runs out and some of those balls start getting through
for Hits.
