Tonight's game of the night features the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies. Action is going off at +135 for Atlanta and -150 for the Phillies. A quick look at the pitching matchups gives a quick indication of why the line significantly favors the Phillies. The Braves will always be a dog with Glavine on the mound. The perpipherals on the game scream for a bet on the Braves, given that it is an intra division game and Myers has been a bit of a mystery himself. Taking the money seems like a good proposition. However, given that they are playing in Philly, and the over/under is only 10, how can you not jump on the over? What do you think a legitimate ERA at their current skill levels would be for Myers and Glavine? If you park adjust it for Philly, I would expect that you are looking in the 10.5 range, and I think that the 10.0 line is a good value proposition. I typically don't favor over bets, but this is a good example of the mean scores in a game driving down the expected value for an outlier such as this.
