The Yankees are still hanging around in Toronto and looking to take home the series tonight in the rubber match.  Toronto squeaked by in the first game a couple of nights ago, which definitely irked me since I had predicted the Yanks, but came through last night with a 5-1 win behind Pettite on the mound.  On the mound tonight are what on the surface would appear a mismatch of gigantic proportions, but let's look at the numbers behind the numbers.

New York Yankees +165 at Toronto Blue Jays -185

The first number that should jump out at you is the +165 behind the Yankees.  Maybe I'm still living in the late 90's or early 2000's, but that is a high number against any recent Yankee team.  Another number that sticks out is the #1, which is the current Pitcher rank for Halladay by Yahoo sports.  That's right, he is ahead of Peavy, Santana, C. Lee, etc....he is the man.  However, I bet what you didn't know is that Ponson for the Yankees has a 3.19 earned run average against the Blue Jays, and has gone 6 complete games against them.  Basically, the kid is money against Toronto for whatever reason.  His WHIP this year is over 1.5, he ERA for the year over 4.6, and his BB/9 is above 3...so you would have to say he is no good, but that is against everyone else, not the Blue Jays.  Roll the dice tonight in a big way and take the Yanks.
